Scout Paddling Adventures
Paddling Adventures include life-vests (Personal Flotation Devices), all paddling equipment, ACA-certified instructor, and patch.

Kayak Adventure
Daisies (Grades K-1) / Brownies (Grades 2-3) Cub Scouts (Grades K-3) Scouts join a 2-hour kayak adventure for the perfect introduction to paddling. Promoting on-water safety, scouts will participate both on-land and on-water as they learn how to wear a life-vest, communicate on the water, learn the basic parts of a kayak, and proper boat-fitting. With paddling instruction provided, the scouts will explore sheltered water areas with on-water supervision by our staff. Kayak or SUP Adventure I Juniors (Grades 4-5) Cub/Boy Scouts (Grades 4-5) This is a 3-hour adventure. Time for a picnic lunch, brought by your troop, is included. Scouts will participate in on-land and on-water activities as they learn kayak or SUP safety with an instructor. The troop will learn to properly fit a lifevest, equipment descriptions, and how weather conditions and navigational charts increase safety awareness. Scouts will join in interactive games on our sheltered waters as they learn to move their boat with forward strokes, reverse strokes, and turns. |
Kayak or SUP Adventure II
Cadettes(Grades 6-8) / Seniors (Grades 9-10) / Ambassadors (Grades 10-12) Boy Scouts (6-12) This patch is a 3.5-4-hour kayak or SUP adventure. Time for a picnic lunch, brought by your troops, is included. Scouts will participate in both on-land and on-water activities as they learn kayak or SUP safety with an instructor. Troop members will learn how to properly fit a lifevest, equipment descriptions and how weather conditions and navigational charts increase safety awareness. On the water, scouts will participate in interactive games on our sheltered waters as they learn to move their boat with forward strokes, reverse strokes, and turns. In addition, participants will observe demonstrations of self- and assisted-rescue. With moderate conditions, the the instructor will lead the whole group for a tour of parts of the Hudson River. Senior Padding Badge Seniors (Grades 9-10) The Senior Paddling Badge is a 3.5-4 hour kayak adventure with time included for a picnic lunch brought by your troop. Scouts will participate in both on-land and on-water activities as outlined by the Girl Scouts of America Guidelines.We look forward to helping these young women reach their goals as they begin their journey to as paddlers. |
